This edition of 'Hints' did not issue the two volumes at the same time and the second volume was edited to appear at a later date. Fine folding plates at p64, p250, p252 and two fine folding maps in the rear board pocket. Map, diagrams and illustrations throughout and sold as complete volume one only. Hints to Travellers first appeared in the Royal Geographical Society Journal in 1854 and later became a separate book. Editions rarely appears on the market. 17.5cms. A nice sound copy with pub. blue buckram and a tight clean text block with wear or marks. Rear inner hinge a trifle split at the top but sound. Neat owners name dated 1940 [O.B. Brears].
